WHAT'S YOUR SOURCE? | Morning Red
☕ This morning, I'm drinking coffee out of one of my favorite cups again.
On the side are the words:
“Walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
I've read those words countless times.
But some mornings they hit differently.
Yesterday, I had a conversation with a customer about the career choices we've made in our lives.
We talked about stepping into something new.
Changing direction.
Taking chances.
Making decisions without knowing exactly where they're going to lead.
And the uncertainty that comes with all of it.
🤔 How do you know you're making the right decision when you can't see what's on the other side of it?
I kept thinking about that conversation afterward.
Because I've made plenty of decisions without knowing exactly how they were going to turn out.
I'm making some of them right now.
Red Alpha continues to change.
I'm building Red Alpha Studios.
I'm learning new things.
I'm experimenting with ideas I've never tried before.
And I can't tell you exactly where all of it is going to lead.
👀 I can't see that far.
But maybe I'm not supposed to.
🧭 WHAT DO YOU TRUST WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE?
There's another passage of Scripture that has become part of what I would call my core programming:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
That doesn't tell me I'm going to understand everything.
Actually, it tells me something almost opposite.
Don't depend entirely on your own understanding.
That's difficult for someone who likes figuring things out. 😂
I want the plan.
I want the numbers.
I want to know where we're going.
I want to know whether something is going to work before I invest the time, energy, or money into trying it.
But life doesn't always give us that information.
Sometimes you have to move before you can see the entire path.
🚶🏽♂️➡️ That's where faith enters the picture.
🙏🏽 FAITH DOESN'T MEAN EVERYTHING GOES MY WAY
I've learned something important about trusting God.
It doesn't mean everything I try is going to work.
Some doors will close.
Some ideas won't work.
Some plans will change.
Sometimes what I thought was the destination may only have been part of the journey.
Faith isn't me telling God:
“Here's my plan. Make it work.”
It's me saying:
“Here's where I think I'm supposed to go. I'm going to trust You while I walk.”
There's a big difference.
🔴 SO WHAT'S MY SOURCE?
When yesterday's conversation got me thinking about where my confidence comes from, I realized my answer pretty quickly.
My source is God.
Not because I know what's going to happen.
Because I don't.
Not because I understand everything that's happening.
Because I definitely don't. 😂
I believe because I trust Him.
And maybe that's why this coffee cup keeps finding its way back into my Morning Red conversations.
☕ Walk by faith.
Not by sight.
I don't need to see the entire road.
I just need enough faith to take the next step.
