Telling a Story From a Community's Perspective

☕ Good morning!

Sometimes making room for what's next doesn't mean clearing your calendar.

Sometimes it means changing the way you approach an opportunity.

And this week, I found myself looking at an opportunity a little differently.

🚘 A Community Tradition

This weekend is Abilene's Cruise Night.

For decades, this tradition has brought people together through their love of cars, friendships, memories, and community.

And what makes this Cruise Night particularly special is that it's the community coming together to make it happen.

The car owners.

The clubs.

The businesses.

The families.

The people who remember cruising these streets years ago, and the younger generations creating their own memories today.

This isn't just about cars. It's about the people connected to them.

🚧 An Opportunity I Thought I'd Missed

I was invited to set up a booth alongside some friends, but I declined because I thought we'd be busy with installations.

Normally, that would have been the end of it.

We couldn't participate.

Move on.

But then I started thinking.

What if we didn't have to be there to help tell the story?

What if the people attending Cruise Night became the storytellers?

💡 What if we made room for the community to tell its own story?

📸 Through Their Eyes

Think about it.

One person might capture a beautiful classic car.

Another might record a group of friends laughing together.

Someone else might have a story about the first car they ever cruised in.

A business owner might share what Cruise Night means to their business.

A car club might have decades of photographs, memories, and friendships worth preserving.

Each person sees the same event from a different perspective.

And every perspective adds something to the story.

One event. Hundreds of experiences. Thousands of possible memories.

No single camera could capture all of that.

🎬 A Different Way to Tell the Story

So here's what we're going to try.

Today, I'll be reaching out to friends, car clubs, businesses, and people attending Cruise Night.

We're inviting them to share their photographs, videos, and memories with Red Alpha Studios.

Our goal is to bring those different perspectives together into a community documentary.

Not simply a highlight reel of beautiful cars.

But a story about the people, the relationships, and the community behind the tradition.

I don't know how much footage we'll receive.

I don't know what stories we'll discover.

And I don't know exactly what the finished documentary will look like.

But that's part of what makes this exciting.

We're creating an opportunity for something we couldn't accomplish alone.

💡 Making Room for What's Next

Yesterday, we talked about making room for what's next.

Today, I'm realizing something else about that idea.

Sometimes making room isn't about adding another responsibility to your schedule.

Sometimes it's about recognizing that you don't have to do everything yourself.

You don't have to be everywhere.

You don't have to hold every camera.

And you don't have to be the person telling every part of the story.

Sometimes your role is to bring people together and give their experiences a place to be heard.

An opportunity I thought I'd missed has become an opportunity to try something entirely different.

And who knows?

Maybe this approach will open the door to other community stories waiting to be told.

🔴 A Thought to Take Into Your Friday

What opportunity have you been overlooking because you thought you had to do everything yourself?

Maybe the next step isn't finding more time.

Maybe it's inviting someone else to be part of the story.

Sometimes what's next is bigger than anything we could create alone.

☕ Good morning. Make room for possibility.
