Why Talented People Don't Always Make a Great Team | Morning Red

🔴 MORNING RED | OCTOBER 13, 2026

From Personalities to Performance — Part 1

🎯 FIVE TALENTED PEOPLE. FIVE DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES. ONE BIG QUESTION.

Are they actually a TEAM?

You can put five incredibly talented people in the same room and still have a dysfunctional operation.

🎨 One is creative.

📋 Another is organized.

⚡ One makes decisions quickly.

🧠 Another thinks everything through.

🤝 And another is great at building relationships.

Individually? They're fantastic!

Together? Well… that's where things get interesting. 😂

🔧 TALENT DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY CREATE TEAMWORK

I've learned something over the years of running a business.

Finding people who are good at what they do is only part of the equation.

The REAL challenge is figuring out how all those talents work together.

Think about it.

🎨 Your designer creates beautiful artwork.

🖨️ Your production team knows exactly how to print it.

🚚 Your installer knows how to bring it to life.

💼 Your salesperson knows how to sell it.

Sounds like a dream team, right?

Not necessarily!

What happens when the salesperson forgets to communicate an important detail?

What happens when the designer assumes production already knows something?

What happens when the installer arrives and discovers the measurements were wrong?

😬 Suddenly, everybody's talented… but nobody's happy!

And here's the kicker.

Nobody necessarily did their individual job poorly.

The breakdown happened BETWEEN the jobs.

🧩 THE MISSING PIECE ISN'T ALWAYS A PERSON

Sometimes we look at a struggling team and immediately start asking:

❌ Who messed up?

❌ Who dropped the ball?

❌ Who isn't doing their job?

But maybe we're asking the wrong questions.

What if we started asking:

✅ Where did communication break down?

✅ What information was missing?

✅ Did everyone understand their responsibilities?

✅ What can we change so this doesn't happen again?

That's a completely different conversation!

Instead of looking for somebody to blame, we're looking for something to improve.

And that's how teams get stronger. 💪

🌟 DIFFERENT DOESN'T MEAN DIFFICULT

Here's something else worth remembering.

We don't all think alike.

And thank goodness for that!

Can you imagine a business where EVERYBODY wanted to be the creative one?

Or EVERYBODY wanted to be the boss? 😂

Somebody has to organize the chaos!

Different personalities bring different strengths.

But those strengths need a common direction.

🧭 Clear expectations.

💬 Honest communication.

🤝 Mutual respect.

🎯 Shared goals.

And perhaps most importantly…

An understanding that MY work affects YOUR work.

That's when a group of talented individuals begins becoming a team.

☕ SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT THIS MORNING

Before we blame the person, maybe we should examine the process.

Before we criticize someone's personality, maybe we should understand their strengths.

And before we call ourselves a team…

Maybe we should ask whether we're actually working together.

Because a team isn't defined by how many talented people are on the roster.

It's defined by what those people can accomplish TOGETHER. 🔴

💬 YOUR TURN!

Have you ever been part of a group where everyone was talented, but teamwork was missing?

What do you think makes the biggest difference?

Let's talk about it!
